The Victron Energy Automotive IP65 Battery Charger 6V/12V-1,1A will automatically adapt its charge algorithm to 6V or 12V batteries making it a very versatile trickle charger for small capacity batteries.

Eight LED’s for status and mode indication
When connected to the AC supply the STAND-BY LED will turn on. No voltage will be present at the output. After connection to a battery (battery voltage must exceed 2V in case of a 6V battery and 7V in case of a 12V battery), charging is initiated by pressing the MODE button. The state of charge of the battery is indicated by 4 LED’s:
1. Red LED marked 25% flashing: state of charge less than 25%.
2. Red LED marked 25% on, and red LED marked 50% flashing: state of charge less than 50%.
3. Red LED’s on, and yellow LED marked 75% flashing: state of charge less than 75%.
4. Red and yellow LED’s on and green LED marked 100% flashing: battery nearly charged.
5. All charge level LED’s solid on: battery fully charged. Flooded, AGM or GEL batteries. Ambient temperature below 10°C, or batteries requiring a higher charge voltage (OPTIMA spiral cell batteries for example).
In case of reverse polarity connection, the orange LED ! will turn on after pressing the MODE button. If the red LED STANDBY remains on, even after pressing the MODE button, the connection to the battery is interrupted. The charger always starts in STANDBY mode when connected to the AC supply.

In general, STR 360 adheres well without primer on clean, dry, dust- and grease-free substrates of aluminium, stainless steel, galvanised steel, zinc, copper, brass, powder-coated metal, most lacquered metal surfaces, glass, PVC, polyester (GRP), painted and lacquered wood, etc. No adhesion on untreated polyethene, polypropylene and Teflon. In case of high adhesion demands the use of Simson Prep M is recommended. Prep M degreases and prepares the surface of the substrate in one step. On plain, untreated wooden surfaces and other porous substrates, Simson Prep P is recommended. In case the joint is exposed to UV radiation the bond surface has to be protected by UV-blocking methods like Simson Prep G. Many motor caravans and boats are left for long periods, especially in the winter months. During this time when the motorhome is not in use, the drain on the battery from the equipment fitted (clock, bilge pump, memory for the digital radio, flashing security lights and security systems) can be fatal for a vehicle battery. Many people simply do not know that if a conventional battery is left to go flat, it will never be the same again and, in most cases, should be replaced.
Although none of the items mentioned above draw very much current it is, however small, significant over some time. Add to this the fact that a lead acid battery (conventional type) will naturally lose power when left. It is also fair to assume in this day and age that when you buy a sophisticated motorcaravan or boat that has a built-in charging system for the leisure battery this will also take care of the engine battery, however, the sad fact is that most converters do not make any provision for this. The main reason that the charging system in the motorhome for instance is not wired to charge the engine battery is the serious risk of damaging the electrical components in the engine. This is why it is common knowledge that you must disconnect the engine battery terminals before attempting to charge the battery.
Battery Master eliminates this problem by electronically taking excess current from the leisure battery filtering out anything nasty and regulating the charging current to an acceptable 1.1amp.
Question: Will Battery Master work with a solar panel?
Answer: Yes, most certainly. It could have been made for it. As the solar panel increases the voltage in the leisure battery, so the excess charge is stored away in the engine battery.
Question: Will it work the other way and flatten the engine battery?
Answer: An emphatic NO. Battery Master will only take power from the leisure battery, never the other way around.
Question: Will it work without mains hook-up?
Answer: Yes. It is designed that when the engine battery drops half a volt below the leisure battery, Battery Master automatically adjusts the charge and tops up the engine battery.
Question: Does this mean that I could leave my van for longer in the winter without the fear of a flat engine battery?

Don’t forget – Even when you are using mains hook-up on a site, using your radio, cab lights, cigar lighter for charging camcorders, telephones, games consoles etc can create a great demand on the engine battery. With the Battery Master this is not a problem. As you use power from the engine battery, Battery Master identifies this and automatically shunts power back into the engine battery to top it back up:
